Discover Brook Farm
There are so many things for you to discover at Brook Farm that will make your break more memorable.
Whether you are looking for somewhere relaxing as a base for exploring the wider area or wanting to retreat from busy life and immerse yourself in nature you will find what you are looking for here.
We are set in 20 acres of gently undulating pasture and surrounded by countryside. There is a brook running through the property hence the name of the farm. We have two ponds which are very peaceful to sit by. One is next to a huge mature Oak Tree at the beginning of a small wooded copse with a trail through it. This makes a fabulous spot for meditating, doing some drawing or having a picnic. We have created grassy tracks around the farm, circling the horse’s paddocks and our guests are free to explore these areas. A public footpath adjoins part of our track with access to a path to nearby Tiptree. Tiptree and Kelvedon are all just a couple of miles away with Kelvedon Station being a direct link to London just an hour by train. Both towns have plenty of individual shops, restaurants and take away plus Supermarkets and a garage at Tiptree. Just mile from Brook Farm is the village of Messing which has a lovely village hall, village green and a favourite local pub the Old Crown that also has a small Deli shop to the rear where you can purchase fresh bread, eggs, fruit and vegetables, cheeses and usually some chef prepared fresh food items that you could easily make a meal of and cook back home at the Herdsman.
During your stay maybe practice some Yoga or Tai Chi, some sketching or painting. Take time to relax and nurture yourself.
Perhaps you are looking for a more active break. The farm is a great base for cyclists or walkers. We may also be able to cater for visitors wishing to bring their horse with them. For horse owners and dogs we can put together a package of healing modalities for you and your pet.
Within the courtyard of our accommodation, one of the barns has a reception area and office and a room that your host and resident complimentary therapist Jane Gilbey is able to offer a range of therapies. Click here for more details. Perhaps you would like to work on some healing for yourself. Jane is a qualified Bach Flower Essence Practitioner for people and animals. Registered with the BFVEA as an advanced practitioner.
Meet the Animals! Join me for a coffee morning talk about horse care or a number of horse related topics. Maybe even put on your wellies and come and have an interactive session with our ponies and sheep, learn to groom, muck out, feed etc. (Own a pony morning for Adults!!) Perhaps watch a demonstration of horsemanship ground skills.
We will be putting together a program of rural craft type one day courses, shorter talks and demonstrations throughout the year. You can see a range of courses I have held in the past on Natural Answers Event Page.
